DIY Cement Table Top
Today’s post is about our DIY cement table top project. In a previous post, we revealed our kitchen table transformation of a table we got free off of craigslist. This is the transformation of our very, VERY old kitchen table. There is not enough room inside our house to use the old table. Our grown kids liked the table because all eight of us fit around it. The table is very ugly but it is also very sturdy. We decided it would be a fun project to transform it into an outdoor table. The table is made of wood and I knew just one winter would destroy the table as…

DIY Tree Stump Planter
Today’s post is about our DIY tree stump planter we made in the stump of our 80-year-old fallen oak tree. The tree was huge!! The original oak covered about ¼-⅓ of our quarter acre lot with it’s branches. It really was an awesome tree. After it split, it was dangerous so we had no choice but to take it down. We decided to leave the stump a little taller than normal and use it in some creative way. In 2015, we made the stump into a table with an umbrella. After four years of exposure to the elements, the table top warped and the tree had started to rot. So…

DIY Rustic Wood Privacy Screen Fence
I am so happy to share our DIY rustic wood privacy screen fence with you today. About five years ago, a massive oak tree in our backyard split during a storm. Let me tell you, this was no small oak tree! We live on a quarter acre lot and this oak tree shaded about one-third of our backyard. Our Fallen Oak Tree Due to the way, the tree split we were forced to cut the entire tree down. If left there was a risk of it falling on our home. Cutting Down Our Oak Tree After cutting the tree down we ended up with a massive pile of wood rounds.…

DIY Farm Style Dining Furniture Transformation
Today we are posting about our DIY farm style furniture transformation. I have always loved farm style decorations. In the 1990s, it was called country style. Even back then, buffalo plaid, galvanized metal and chippy wood furniture was a thing. I have to admit, I did go through a modern decorating phase in the early 2,000’s when Crate & Barrel’s CB2 was really popular. All the decor had a very funky almost 1960 hippy look to it. I truly think it appealed to my spontaneous wild side. During this phase of my life, we purchased a very sturdy kitchen table with rolling cane back chairs that we still own. The…

DIY Front Porch Sign
Today our post is about a simple DIY front porch sign we made out of old fence boards. We love recycling fence boards into farmhouse decor. While shopping at Hobby Lobby we found these darling large metal letters. Immediately we knew we wanted to make something with them. We were already talking about painting a “HOME” sign for the front porch. The letters were so cute, we loved the font and they were a perfect size so we picked up the letters H, M, and E. The pre-made letters made our “HOME” sign a very easy build. Supplies and Tools: (2) aged fence boards cut to 5 feet (2) 1′…

Easter Themed Cross and Crown Sign
Today, we are posting our Easter themed cross and crown wood sign. Who doesn’t love decorations that can be used for more than one holiday? This sign can double as a Valentine’s Decoration and an Easter Decoration. We used some metal crosses that we found at Hobby Lobby as the X’s and some rusty barbed wire to create Jesus’ crown of thorns as the O’s. Then we added the words “Oh, How He Loves Us”. We put together a short video on our YouTube channel and a list of supplies below. We would love for you to watch and tell us what you think. Supplies: 1″ X 6″ X 24″…

Organize with Us! HOW TO BUILD SHED STORAGE
Today, we are going to share our small shed organization project. How many of you have a cluttered storage area? Kind of a catch-all, for all those items that you need to keep, but they don’t have a specific spot of their very own. We don’t have a garage so that spot is our tiny 10.5′ x 7′ Rubbermaid Storage Shed. Inside, we store most of our summer outdoor coverings like umbrellas and UV sun shades. We also store our gardening and irrigation supplies and other outdoorsy stuff. The shed is so small that things always seem to end up getting shoved in there in a hurry, landing in a…

Industrial Farm Style Open Closet
One of our most recent projects is the construction of an industrial farm style open closet. We live in a small 1,247 square foot, ranch style home and storage space is precious and limited. A few years back, my sweet husband forfeited his closet to make room for a master bath remodel. For years, he has been sharing closet space with our youngest son and he had a small butler (suit stand) in our room. Over time his dress clothes found very interesting places to land in our bedroom. For example, I would find suits draped over a poster of our bed or hanging from a drawer pull on my…
